And guess what? Most of them made the same grammar mistakes — again and again.
These mistakes are common, but the good news is: they’re easy to fix once you know them.
In this blog, let’s look at the top 10 grammar mistakes Indians make, with simple fixes you can start using today.
Wrong: She only eats fruits.
Correct: She eats only fruits.
“Only” should be placed near the word it modifies.
Wrong: I am having a car.
Correct: I have a car.
“Have” for possession is simple present, not continuous.
Wrong: He can going to school.
Correct: He can go to school.
After “can, should, must, will,” always use the base verb.
Wrong: She gave me an advice.
Correct: She gave me some advice.
“Advice” is uncountable. Don’t say an advice, a furniture, etc.
Wrong: Discuss about the topic.
Correct: Discuss the topic.
“Discuss” doesn’t need “about.”
Wrong: I didn’t knew.
Correct: I didn’t know.
After “did,” always use the base form.
Wrong: He is best player.
Correct: He is the best player.
Superlative adjectives need “the.”
Wrong: Yesterday I go to the market.
Correct: Yesterday I went to the market.
Past time = past tense.
Wrong: You are coming, isn’t it?
Correct: You are coming, aren’t you?
Tag questions should match the helping verb and tense.
Wrong: This one is more better.
Correct: This one is better.
“Better” is already a comparative word. Don’t add “more.”
